FAQs

At KNTR, our team of medical practitioners will help you choose the dermal filler and treatment area that’s right for you. We know that navigating the world of injectables can be overwhelming and feel like a lot to take in. That’s why we created this comprehensive FAQ section as an easy and helpful guide to your consultation journey, so you can make an informed decision with confidence!

  • What are dermal fillers?

Dermal filler is composed of hyaluronic acid (HA) which is a naturally occurring substance found within our body that contributes to volume and hydration. Fillers temporarily augments facial contours by filling any volume deficits while correcting and smoothing any deep wrinkles for a natural-looking result.

  • How is it injected?

Once you have completed a consultation with one of our medical practitioners, the treatment area is prepped and injected with either a fine needle or a cannula, dependent on safety, preference, and location of treatment. At Kontour Medical Aesthetics, we use a Canadian, FDA approved dermal filler that has used science, research, and the highest form of technology to create an extremely safe product, providing the best and natural looking result with minimal adverse effects.

  • Who is not a good candidate for filler?

    Those who are/have:

    • Under the age of 18
    • Pregnant women and nursing mothers
    • Bleeding abnormalities (Anticoagulant use)
    • Hypertrophic or keloidal scarring
    • Active infection in the treatment area (e.g. Psoriasis, eczema, rosacea, acne flareup)
    • Impaired healing (due to immunosuppression)
    • Previous anaphylactic reaction

At KNTR, a licensed medical professional will discuss with you the benefits of dermal fillers and the risks, helping to ensure you make an informed decision about which filler is best for your needs and desired results.

  • What areas can dermal filler treat?

    • Temples
    • Tear Trough
    • Liquid Rhinoplasty
    • Cheeks
    • Nasolabial Folds
    • Lip Filler & Lip Lines

  • Pre-Procedure Care

    • Avoid taking NSAIDS (Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory) medications (e.g. Ibprofen, Aleve, Motrin), Aspirin, Vitamin E, St. John’s wort, and other dietary supplements including gingko, evening primrose oil, garlic, feverfew and ginseng at least 3 days prior to your treatment date (if appropriate – please discuss with your health care provider before discontinuing)

  • Day of Your Treatment

    • Apply a wrapped ice pack to treatment areas for 10-15 minutes a few times throughout the day and continue for 1-3 days, or until swelling and bruising has resolved
    • Avoid massages, facials or activities that can manipulate the treated areas or cause facial flushing (exercising, tanning, application of heat to the face, alcohol consumption) to reduce the likelihood of product migration and risk of side effects until swelling resolves
    • Tylenol (Acetaminophen) can be used if needed to relieve discomfort
    • Elevate your head with pillows overnight to reduce swelling
  • Post-Procedure Care

With all Dermal Filler, you will see immediate results.  Therefore, you will experience temporary:
